Brisbane River Dragons invites all clubs to attend the Dragon Boat Regatta at Lake Kawana on Sunday 17 February 2019.

Racing will commence at 8.15am and the event will be staged as follows:

Race Distances:

• 500 metres Open / Women / Mixed - Standard Boat (1st, 2nd, 3rd trophies)
• 500 metres Open / Women / Mixed / BCS / Junior – Small Boat (1st, 2nd, 3rd trophies)
• 2,000 metres Mixed Standard (1st, 2nd, 3rd trophies)

Clubs capable of fielding Standard Boat crews in any category are required to do so. Only one entry per club is permitted in the Small Boat category….BCS and Junior entries excepted.

Composite crews in all events are permitted to ensure competition for smaller clubs.

Fees: $15 per Adult paddler & $5 per Junior paddler. DBQ ID Tags required for presentation.

Rules of Racing: Standard Boat / Small Boat ratio for Mixed racing will be maximum 10 men for standard and 5 for small boat (Drummer and Sweep – any gender)

• Members of Standard Crews are NOT permitted to paddle in Small Crews. This includes sweeps or drummers in one crew participating as a paddler in another crew.
• Sweeps can be of any gender in Open and Mixed categories.
• All clubs shall allow a provisional sweep to sweep a race as appointed by the Race Committee.
• Standard AusDBF Rules of Racing and at the discretion of the Event organisers.

Qualification System: An aggregate time system will be used throughout the heats to determine crews for places in the Finals.

Minimum Numbers: Standard - 16 paddlers plus a drummer and sweep. Small – 8 paddlers plus a drummer and sweep.

Safety: All paddlers MUST be able to swim 50 metres or wear a life vest.

Sweeps: Must be DBQ accredited Level 3 or higher; or designated as Provisional. The event organisers will help to provide sweeps if requested.

Clean-up: All clubs are requested to clean up their area at the end of the day and dispose of rubbish into bags/bins provided.

Protests: Must be lodged to the Event Co-ordinator in writing within 10 minutes of the Official results being posted. $50 fee applies.

Other: BBQ and Coffee Van will be provided.
